COMPOSITE BONDED FILLINGS
What are they?
Composite fillings are made of special resins and glass type particles. It is tooth colored and because of the variety of shades can match the color of existing tooth structure quite well. It is very durable and provides many years of service; however, it will eventually need replacement like any of the other materials used to restore teeth.
When are they used?
Composite materials have a wide range of use. Some of the more common reasons are replacement of worn out or broken existing fillings, repair of decayed teeth, fixing chipped or broken teeth, close spaces, and veneering front teeth to lighten and / or modify the shape.
Advantages
Compared to porcelain or gold inlays the fee for composite bonding is considerably less. While the durability is not usually as long as these two other materials the service life is generally quite good. Of course proper oral hygiene will always increase the longevity of any restoration.
